Message From the President & CEO
Does anyone else feel like this year is racing by? It’s hard to believe that summer is already here. Five months in, and 2026 is already shaping up to be another year of change and uncertainty as the grant landscape evolves.
On the federal level, we’ve never seen a grant season like this before. Nonprofits have been hit hard by severe federal funding delays. We have been waiting since October 1, 2025 — yes, that’s eight months — to learn about applications submitted last year and apply for federal funds for the new federal fiscal year. Those delays mean survivors who can’t escape abuse. Shelters that are running out of funds to operate. Children who are suffering violence and trauma.
Thousands of nonprofits across the nation are ready and waiting to help people find safety and healing. These cuts and delays are causing harm. Period, full stop. Our elected officials need to do something to pressure the administration to release funding.
Learn more and use your voice to advocate for funding. This NNEDV toolkit has some helpful talking points and graphics. Even though the Days of Action are over, it’s never too late to advocate. Georgians can also call the Governor’s office to ask him to reverse state funding cuts (more on that below) by calling (404) 656-1776 — it takes just 5 minutes to make a call and leave a message with an aide.
On a more positive note, we released our 2025 Annual Report this month, celebrating a decade of helping nonprofits create powerful change through grant funding. I’m incredibly proud to announce that we’ve tipped over the $160 million mark! With some new grant awards announced, we have officially helped more than 100 nonprofits raise a whopping $161,417,798 in grant funding. Wow! I’m so grateful for our team of expert grant consultants and the nonprofits we support.
Read on for more information about trends, forecasts, and ways we can help your organization secure more grant funding in a challenging funding environment.
Warmly,
Betty Barnard

Trend Watch
Here’s what you need to know about the grant landscape changes, updates, and trends:
On May 12, 2026, Governor Brian Kemp signed Georgia’s FY 2027 budget while directing agencies to withhold over $344 million in spending through 157 “disregards,” line-item vetoes, and reductions—just one day after approving a $1.3 billion annual income tax cut (HB 463). These cuts disproportionately affect programs serving vulnerable Georgians and the nonprofits that deliver those services. Of roughly $244 million in non-pension reductions, about $108 million directly impacts nonprofits and $51 million indirectly—nearly 46% of all cuts—while funding for for-profit industries, private employers, and infrastructure was fully preserved. Read more at the Georgia Center for Nonprofits’ website.
The Governor slashed $12.7 million in state funding for domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking service providers. These last-minute budget cuts also impacted Child Advocacy Centers and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs), important resource centers and advocates for children who have suffered abuse and neglect.
